Fire resistant hydraulic fluids have been developed for mining, die-casting, steel mill, aluminum plants and aviation applications. These fluids have significantly higher temperatures or fire-resistant properties and thus afford better fire protection than mineral oils. Conventional mineral hydraulic oils will readily ignite if sprayed under pressure from a fractured hydraulic pipe or hose. FUCHS' range of fire resistant hydraulic fluids has been developed to reduce fire hazards and are ideal to use where there are high temperatures or pressures.
Fire-resistant hydraulic fluids are classified as below.
HFAE: Oil-in-water emulsions (mineral oil based)
HFAS: Synthetic, water based solutions (ester and/or polyglycol based)
HFB: Water-in-oil emulsions (mineral oil based)
HFC: Water-based monomer and polymer solutions (polyglycol based)
HFD (HFDR/ HFDU): Water-free fluids
